Responsibilities
- Design and implement cybersecurity safeguards for VA IT infrastructure
- Conduct risk assessments and vulnerability scans across federal systems
- Develop incident response plans and lead security breach mitigation
- Ensure compliance with NIST, FISMA, and OMB security directives
- Collaborate with IT teams to integrate security into system development
- Monitor security alerts and provide real-time threat analysis
- Train staff on security best practices and policies
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Cybersecurity, IT, or related field (or equivalent experience)
- 3+ years of federal IT security compliance experience
- Active CISSP, Security+, or CISM certification required
- Expertise in NIST Risk Management Framework (RMF)
- Knowledge of FISMA and OMB Circular A-130 standards
- Experience with VA-specific security systems preferred
- Ability to obtain and maintain Tier 3 background clearance
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
