Responsibilities
- Implement and maintain Federal Information Security Management Act (FISMA) compliance frameworks
- Conduct vulnerability assessments and penetration testing on VA systems
- Develop incident response plans and lead security breach investigations
- Configure and manage security tools (SIEM, firewalls, IDS/IPS)
- Collaborate with cross-agency teams on national cybersecurity initiatives
- Train staff on security protocols and best practices
- Monitor network traffic for suspicious activities and anomalies
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Cybersecurity, IT, or related field (or equivalent experience)
- 3+ years of federal IT security compliance experience
- Active CISSP, Security+, or CompTIA Security+ certification
- Familiarity with NIST SP 800-53 security controls
- Experience with cloud security (AWS/Azure/GCP) environments
- Ability to obtain and maintain Secret security clearance
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
