Federal Benefits Solutions is urgently hiring a Federal Pension Plan Specialist to join our dynamic team in Baltimore, Maryland. In this critical role, you will oversee the administration and management of federal pension plans, ensuring accurate calculations and seamless service for federal employees across the region.
We are looking for an expert who understands the intricacies of the Federal Employees Retirement System (FERS) and CSRS. You will play a vital role in safeguarding employee benefits while maintaining strict compliance with Office of Personnel Management (OPM) regulations.
Responsibilities
- Plan Administration: Manage the end-to-end lifecycle of federal pension plans, including processing retirement applications, benefit calculations, and distribution of funds.
- Compliance & Auditing: Ensure strict adherence to OPM guidelines, federal laws, tax regulations, and internal compliance standards through regular record audits.
- Employee Support: Provide expert guidance and consultative support to federal employees regarding pension eligibility, vesting schedules, and retirement options.
- Coordination: Collaborate closely with payroll departments, HR teams, and actuaries to coordinate pension contributions and resolve discrepancies.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate, up-to-date records of employee pension data and generate comprehensive reports for management review.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field is strongly preferred.
- Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years of verifiable experience in federal benefits administration, pension plan management, or actuarial science.
- Technical Knowledge: Deep understanding of FERS (Federal Employees Retirement System), CSRS, and the Thrift Savings Plan (TSP).
- Regulatory Expertise: Strong working knowledge of federal employment laws, tax codes, and OPM compliance requirements.
- Soft Skills: Exceptional analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to communicate complex financial concepts clearly to non-technical audiences.
