Role Overview:
As a Federal Pension Plan Specialist, you will serve as the subject matter expert for Thrift Savings Plan (TSP) and pension calculations. You will review complex documentation, verify eligibility, and resolve discrepancies that arise during the retirement claim process. Your attention to detail will ensure compliance with Office of Personnel Management (OPM) guidelines.
Responsibilities
- Process and calculate federal pension benefits, including FERS and CSRS, with 100% accuracy.
- Analyze and verify Thrift Savings Plan (TSP) contributions and eligibility for withdrawal.
- Investigate and resolve complex inquiries regarding retirement eligibility, survivor benefits, and medical retirement.
- Ensure strict compliance with federal privacy laws (FIPPA/FOIA) and internal data security protocols.
- Collaborate with the day shift team to ensure seamless transition of ongoing cases and priority claims.
- Document all interactions and decisions within the HRIS system for audit trails.
- Stay updated on changes in federal retirement legislation and update procedures accordingly.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business Administration, Human Resources, or a related field required.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in federal benefits administration, payroll processing, or pension management.
- Deep working knowledge of the Federal Employees Retirement System (FERS) and Civil Service Retirement System (CSRS).
- Must be available to work a rotating night shift schedule (e.g., 6:00 PM – 2:00 AM).
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook) and HRIS software (e.g., PeopleSoft, Workday).
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex regulations and apply them to specific cases.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills for client interaction.
