Responsibilities
- Manage Federal Pension Plans: Oversee the administration and daily operations of FERS and CSRS pension plans, ensuring strict adherence to federal regulations.
- Benefit Calculations: Perform complex calculations for retirement annuities, survivor benefits, and lump-sum distributions with 100% accuracy.
- Compliance Audits: Conduct regular internal audits of pension records to identify discrepancies and ensure full compliance with ERISA and OPM guidelines.
- Employee Consultation: Serve as the primary point of contact for federal employees regarding retirement eligibility, vesting, and benefit questions.
- Regulatory Updates: Monitor changes in federal retirement laws and update plan documentation and procedures accordingly.
- System Management: Maintain and troubleshoot pension management software and payroll integration systems.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or Human Resources; Master’s degree preferred.
- Experience: Minimum 4 years of experience in federal retirement administration, pension plan management, or a related financial role.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Access) and experience with federal HRIS systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, PeopleSoft).
- Knowledge: Strong working knowledge of FERS, CSRS, and Thrift Savings Plan (TSP) regulations.
- Communication: Exceptional interpersonal skills with the ability to explain complex financial concepts to non-financial stakeholders.
- Clearance: Ability to pass a federal background investigation and obtain a Public Trust clearance.
