Responsibilities
- Administer Federal Pension Plans: Oversee the daily operations of FERS and CSRS pension calculations, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
- Regulatory Compliance: Ensure all pension activities comply with federal laws, OPM guidelines, and agency-specific policies.
- Employee Counseling: Provide expert guidance and counseling to federal employees regarding retirement eligibility, annuity calculations, and survivor benefits.
- Record Management: Maintain precise and up-to-date records of employee contributions, service credit, and retirement applications.
- Process Retirement Applications: Review and process incoming retirement packages, coordinating with finance and HR departments as needed.
- Audits and Reporting: Assist in internal and external audits regarding pension plan compliance and prepare required reporting documentation.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Human Resources, or a related field required. Master’s degree preferred.
- Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience administering federal pension plans or retirement benefits for a government entity or federal contractor.
- Technical Knowledge: In-depth knowledge of OPM retirement systems, FERS, CSRS, and Thrift Savings Plan (TSP) regulations.
- Attention to Detail: Exceptional ability to perform complex calculations with a high degree of accuracy and manage sensitive employee data.
- Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills for advising employees and preparing reports.
- Regulatory Expertise: Strong understanding of federal employment laws and compliance standards.
