Responsibilities
- Analyze federal employee contribution data and calculate accurate pension benefits, survivor annuities, and retirement distributions.
- Conduct comprehensive one-on-one consultations to explain vesting schedules, retirement eligibility, and withdrawal options to federal staff.
- Ensure strict compliance with federal regulations, including ERISA, OPM guidelines, and state-specific pension laws.
- Review and audit pension claim packets for accuracy, completeness, and regulatory adherence before final approval.
- Collaborate with internal HR teams and external actuaries to resolve complex benefit discrepancies and process appeals.
- Develop and maintain detailed records of participant accounts and provide quarterly status reports to management.
- Stay current on changes in federal pension legislation and update internal training materials accordingly.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business Administration, Human Resources, or a related field is required.
- Minimum of 4 years of experience in pension administration, retirement planning, or benefits management.
- Deep understanding of Federal Employees Retirement System (FERS) and Civil Service Retirement System (CSRS) regulations.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex actuarial data and financial statements.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-financial audiences.
- Must be a U.S. Citizen and able to obtain the necessary government security clearance.
- Proficiency in HRIS systems (e.g., PeopleSoft, Workday) and Microsoft Office Suite is preferred.
