You will be responsible for ensuring the accurate and timely processing of pension claims, resolving complex benefit inquiries, and maintaining strict compliance with federal standards.
Responsibilities
- Review and process complex federal pension applications and appeals with high accuracy and within strict deadlines.
- Conduct thorough research to determine pension eligibility based on OPM (Office of Personnel Management) regulations and specific agency policies.
- Provide expert guidance and consultations to federal employees regarding retirement options, survivor benefits, and healthcare transitions.
- Collaborate with the legal and compliance teams to ensure all pension payouts adhere to federal laws and internal controls.
- Manage a high volume of incoming inquiries via phone, email, and in-person, prioritizing urgent cases related to immediate financial needs.
- Prepare and maintain detailed records of all pension transactions and client interactions.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in federal benefits administration, retirement planning, or a related financial services field.
- Deep knowledge of FERS (Federal Employees Retirement System) and CSRS (Civil Service Retirement System) regulations.
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field (preferred).
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data and regulations.
- Excellent communication skills, capable of explaining technical pension concepts to clients in plain English.
- Must be able to pass a background check and obtain necessary security clearance for federal work.
