Responsibilities
- Process Pension Claims: Review and evaluate federal pension applications, ensuring all documentation meets strict federal compliance standards.
- Conduct Calculations: Perform complex mathematical computations for retirement annuities, survivor benefits, and pension adjustments.
- Client Communication: Respond to inquiries from federal employees and retirees regarding pension eligibility, status, and benefit amounts via phone and email.
- Compliance Monitoring: Ensure all pension actions align with the Federal Employees' Retirement System (FERS) and other applicable regulations.
- Data Management: Maintain accurate, confidential records of all pension transactions and update internal databases in real-time.
- Collaboration: Work closely with the Federal Benefits Administration team to identify process improvements and reduce processing times.
- Policy Interpretation: Interpret federal retirement policies and provide guidance to applicants when necessary.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Human Resources, or Business Administration required.
- Experience: Minimum of 3 years of experience in pension administration, payroll, or benefits processing.
- Knowledge: In-depth knowledge of FERS, CSRS, and federal retirement laws is highly preferred.
- Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook) and pension administration software.
- Attributes: Exceptional analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to handle sensitive information with absolute confidentiality.
- Availability: Must be able to commit to a part-time schedule (e.g., 20-30 hours per week).
