Responsibilities
- Perform complex pension calculations for Federal Employees Retirement System (FERS) and Civil Service Retirement System (CSRS) participants, ensuring 100% accuracy.
- Conduct rigorous compliance audits of pension records and contribution documentation to mitigate risk and ensure adherence to OPM guidelines.
- Provide expert consultation to federal employees regarding pension eligibility, survivor benefits, and retirement planning strategies.
- Maintain and update a centralized database of pension records, generating detailed reports for management and regulatory bodies.
- Analyze pension trends and data to provide insights that optimize plan administration and cost efficiency.
- Collaborate with actuaries and external financial advisors to develop accurate long-term benefit projection models.
- Handle sensitive employee inquiries regarding deductions, vested benefits, and leave accrual impacts on pensions.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Actuarial Science, Human Resources, or a related quantitative field.
- Minimum of 5 years of professional experience working specifically with federal pension systems and OPM regulations.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly advanced Excel skills (macros, pivot tables, VLOOKUP).
- Strong working knowledge of retirement plan administration software and federal payroll systems.
- Exceptional attention to detail with the ability to interpret complex financial tables and actuarial data.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to simplify complex regulations for clients.
- Ability to maintain strict confidentiality and adhere to ethical standards in handling sensitive personnel data.
