Responsibilities
- Develop and execute strategic public relations campaigns for VA initiatives in Northeast Ohio
- Manage media relations with local and national outlets to amplify veterans' stories
- Oversee digital communications including social media, websites, and email newsletters
- Coordinate crisis communications and emergency response protocols
- Analyze public sentiment and adjust messaging strategies accordingly
- Serve as primary spokesperson for VA events and community engagements
- Supervise junior communications staff and contractors
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, or related field
- Minimum 3 years of professional public affairs experience
- Demonstrated success in federal or government communications roles
- Expertise in digital media platforms and analytics tools
- Strong writing/editing skills with portfolio of published work
- Active Secret security clearance or ability to obtain one
- Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite and CMS platforms
- Experience managing budgets for communications projects
