Responsibilities
- Perform manual labor for infrastructure maintenance including road repairs, drainage systems, and park facilities
- Operate light machinery such as jackhammers, tampers, and power washers safely and efficiently
- Assist in traffic control and flagging operations during construction projects
- Load/unload construction materials and maintain organized job sites
- Conduct routine inspections of public works assets and report maintenance needs
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure project timelines are met
- Adhere to OSHA safety standards and department protocols at all times
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent (GED)
- Valid Texas Class C Driver's License with clean driving record
- Ability to lift 50+ pounds and perform physically demanding tasks in varying weather conditions
- Basic knowledge of construction tools and equipment operation
- Strong commitment to workplace safety and hazard prevention
- Ability to work flexible shifts including weekends and emergency response
- Preferred: 6 months of public works or construction experience
- Preferred: OSHA 10-Hour Construction Certification
