Responsibilities
- Perform manual labor for construction, maintenance, and repair of city infrastructure including roads, sidewalks, and drainage systems
- Operate and maintain hand/power tools and light equipment such as jackhammers, saws, and dump trucks
- Assist in asphalt paving, concrete work, and landscaping projects across city properties
- Participate in snow removal, storm response, and emergency operations during weather events
- Ensure compliance with OSHA safety standards and department protocols at all times
- Document work activities and maintain accurate equipment and material records
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to coordinate project timelines and resource allocation
- Support sustainability initiatives through proper waste management and eco-friendly practices
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent with 1+ years of construction or maintenance experience
- Valid Missouri Class D driver's license with acceptable driving record
- Ability to perform physically demanding tasks including lifting (50+ lbs), bending, and working in extreme weather conditions
- Basic knowledge of construction materials, tools, and safety procedures
- Ability to read and interpret basic blueprints and work orders
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to follow detailed instructions
- Willingness to obtain required certifications (e.g., flagger, equipment operation)
- Ability to pass pre-employment physical and drug screening
