Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain complex geodatabases and GIS data models to support TxDOT’s asset management and planning initiatives.
- Conduct advanced spatial analyses using ArcGIS Pro and Python to identify trends, optimize routes, and assess infrastructure needs.
- Create high-quality cartographic products, interactive web maps, and 3D visualizations for public presentations and internal stakeholder briefings.
- Collaborate with engineering, environmental, and planning teams to integrate GIS data into broader project workflows and decision-making processes.
- Ensure data integrity, accuracy, and accessibility by performing quality assurance/quality control (QA/QC) on spatial datasets and metadata.
- Train and mentor junior staff members on GIS best practices, software tools, and data standards.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Geography, Geospatial Science, Urban Planning, or a related field; or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
- Minimum of three (3) years of professional experience in GIS analysis, cartography, or database management.
- Proficiency in Esri ArcGIS suite (ArcMap, ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Online/ArcGIS Enterprise).
- Strong programming skills in Python or SQL for data automation and scripting.
- Experience with spatial statistics, network analysis, or geocoding is highly preferred.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to translate complex technical concepts for diverse audiences.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a multi-disciplinary team environment.
