Responsibilities
- Develop and Maintain Spatial Databases: Design, implement, and maintain geodatabases and GIS platforms to ensure data integrity and accessibility for county departments.
- Map Production: Create high-quality maps and charts for various stakeholders, including the public, city planners, and law enforcement agencies.
- Geospatial Analysis: Conduct complex spatial analyses to support decision-making processes regarding land use, zoning, and resource allocation.
- Web GIS Development: Collaborate with developers to integrate GIS data into web applications and interactive mapping tools.
- Data Management: Oversee the acquisition, validation, and distribution of spatial data from various internal and external sources.
- User Support: Provide technical assistance and training to county staff regarding GIS software and data interpretation.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Geography, Cartography, Geomatics, Computer Science, or a related field required; equivalent professional experience will be considered.
- Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in GIS applications, spatial analysis, and database management.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in ArcGIS (ArcMap and ArcGIS Pro), SQL, Python, and at least one relational database management system (e.g., PostgreSQL, SQL Server).
- Software Proficiency: Strong command of Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Access) and Adobe Creative Suite (for cartographic design).
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to translate complex technical data for non-technical audiences.
