Responsibilities
- System Administration: Oversee the day-to-day operations of local government server infrastructure, ensuring high availability and performance.
- Project Management: Lead IT initiatives from conception through deployment, ensuring adherence to government compliance standards and timelines.
- Troubleshooting: Diagnose and resolve complex hardware, software, and network issues affecting city services and staff productivity.
- Security Compliance: Implement and monitor security protocols to protect sensitive government data and ensure adherence to federal and state regulations.
- Vendor Management: Evaluate and manage relationships with external technology vendors to secure the best value for city taxpayers.
- Documentation: Maintain comprehensive technical documentation, including network diagrams and operational procedures.
- Staff Support: Provide advanced technical guidance and mentorship to junior IT staff and city department users.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Experience: Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in IT systems analysis or administration within a government or large enterprise environment.
- Certifications: Relevant certifications such as CompTIA Security+, CCNA, or PMP are highly preferred.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in Windows Server, Linux, virtualization technologies, and cloud platforms (AWS/Azure).
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
- Problem Solving: Strong analytical skills with a proven track record of resolving critical system failures efficiently.
- Availability: Willingness to work occasional evenings or weekends to support system maintenance windows.
