Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain comprehensive geographic information systems (GIS) and spatial databases to support county operations.
- Collect, analyze, and interpret complex spatial and attribute data to produce high-quality maps, reports, and visualizations.
- Collaborate with cross-functional departments, including Planning, Public Works, and Emergency Management, to address specific geospatial needs.
- Perform quality assurance and quality control (QA/QC) on GIS data and mapping products to ensure accuracy and integrity.
- Provide technical support and training to staff regarding GIS software and data access.
- Stay current with emerging GIS technologies, trends, and best practices to recommend system improvements.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Geography, Geospatial Science, Computer Science, or a related field is required; equivalent work experience may be considered.
- Minimum of 2-4 years of professional experience in GIS analysis, cartography, or spatial data management.
- Advanced proficiency in Esri ArcGIS Desktop (ArcMap, ArcGIS Pro) and ArcGIS Server is mandatory.
- Strong working knowledge of SQL and relational database management systems (e.g., PostgreSQL, SQL Server).
- Experience with Python scripting or other programming languages for automation is highly preferred.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present technical data to non-technical stakeholders.
- Valid Driver's License and the ability to travel to various county sites as needed.
