Responsibilities
- Perform routine inspections and maintenance of city streets, sidewalks, and drainage systems to ensure public safety and accessibility.
- Operate heavy machinery and vehicles, including dump trucks, graders, and paving equipment, adhering to all safety protocols.
- Collaborate with a diverse team of engineers, inspectors, and administrative staff to execute municipal projects efficiently.
- Respond promptly to citizen inquiries and service requests regarding public works issues in the New Orleans area.
- Maintain accurate records of daily work logs, materials used, and project progress.
- Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations regarding construction and public works standards.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent required; technical certification in civil engineering or mechanics is a plus.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in public works, construction, or general maintenance preferred.
- Valid Class B Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with a clean driving record.
- Ability to pass a background check and drug screening as required for government positions.
- Physical stamina to perform manual labor in various weather conditions.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to follow detailed instructions.
