Responsibilities
- Process and review pension benefit applications for state and local government employees with precision and care.
- Conduct thorough eligibility verifications and perform complex calculations for retirement benefits.
- Provide exceptional customer service and support to retirees, addressing inquiries regarding their pension status.
- Maintain accurate and confidential records in strict accordance with federal and state regulations.
- Collaborate with the finance department to ensure the accuracy of payroll and pension disbursements.
- Assist in the interpretation and application of government pension policies and procedures.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED equivalent required; an Associate’s degree in Finance, Business Administration, or Public Administration is preferred.
- Minimum of 1-2 years of direct experience in government benefits, payroll administration, or pension processing.
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to detect errors in complex data.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel for data analysis.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills for interacting with diverse stakeholders.
- Familiarity with Texas state government regulations regarding employee benefits is a plus.
