About the Role
The Grant Writer will be responsible for identifying, researching, and writing successful proposals to secure funding from government agencies, private foundations, and corporations. You will play a pivotal role in our financial sustainability and expansion of programs.
Key Responsibilities
- Research & Identification: Conduct comprehensive research to identify new funding opportunities that align with our organizational goals and program objectives.
- Proposal Development: Draft clear, compelling, and persuasive grant narratives, budgets, and supporting documents for federal, state, and private foundation grants.
- Stakeholder Collaboration: Work closely with program staff, executive leadership, and finance teams to gather necessary data and ensure alignment between project goals and funding requirements.
- Reporting & Compliance: Prepare and submit timely reports to grantors, ensuring full compliance with all contractual obligations and funding guidelines.
- Portfolio Management: Maintain an organized database of potential funding sources, track deadlines, and manage the grant lifecycle from submission to closeout.
- Copyediting: Edit and proofread all grant materials to ensure high-quality writing and adherence to brand voice.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in English, Communications, Public Administration, or a related field required; Master’s degree preferred.
- Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years of successful experience writing grants for non-profit or educational organizations.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in using grant management software and CRM systems (e.g., Salesforce, SurveyMonkey Apply, or similar).
- Knowledge: Deep understanding of the grant writing process, federal and state grant compliance requirements, and budget development.
- Writing Proficiency: Exceptional writing, editing, and proofreading skills with a keen attention to detail.
- Communication: Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate complex ideas clearly to diverse audiences.
- Time Management: Ability to manage multiple deadlines simultaneously while maintaining high-quality output.
