Responsibilities
- Operate heavy machinery (excavators, loaders, graders) for construction and maintenance projects
- Perform manual labor including excavation, grading, and paving operations
- Conduct routine infrastructure inspections and maintenance on roads, bridges, and utilities
- Adhere to OSHA safety protocols and environmental compliance standards
- Collaborate with engineering teams to execute project blueprints
- Manage material inventory and equipment maintenance logs
- Respond to emergency public works incidents with rapid deployment capabilities
Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years of public works or heavy construction experience
- Valid North Carolina Class B Commercial Driver's License (CDL)
- OSHA 30-Hour Construction Safety certification
- Ability to lift 75+ pounds and perform physically demanding tasks
- Proficiency with GPS survey equipment and construction software
- Emergency response certification preferred
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Pass pre-employment physical and background check
