Responsibilities
- Operate heavy machinery (excavators, loaders, forklifts) for infrastructure construction and maintenance
- Perform manual labor including excavation, grading, concrete pouring, and asphalt paving
- Adhere to strict safety protocols while working in public rights-of-way and construction zones
- Inspect and maintain public facilities including drainage systems, sidewalks, and road surfaces
- Collaborate with engineering teams to execute precise project specifications
- Document work progress and maintain equipment logs for compliance reporting
Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years of public works or heavy construction experience
- Valid Class B Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with airbrake endorsement
- OSHA 30-hour construction certification or willingness to obtain within 90 days
- Ability to lift 75+ pounds and perform physically demanding tasks in varying weather
- Knowledge of traffic control and flagging procedures (Caltrans certification preferred)
- Pass pre-employment drug screening and background check
- Experience operating GPS-guided equipment and construction software
