Responsibilities
- Operate heavy machinery (excavators, graders, dump trucks) for construction/maintenance projects
- Perform manual labor including excavation, paving, and utility installation
- Ensure strict OSHA compliance and maintain safe work environments
- Collaborate with engineering teams on infrastructure development plans
- Conduct routine equipment inspections and preventative maintenance
- Document project progress and material usage in digital systems
- Participate in emergency response during severe weather events
Qualifications
- 3+ years of public works or heavy construction experience
- Valid NC Class B Commercial Driver's License (CDL)
- OSHA 30-Hour Construction Safety certification required
- Ability to lift 75+ pounds and work in extreme weather conditions
- Experience with GPS survey equipment and blueprints
- Clean driving record and background check clearance
- High school diploma or equivalent (GED acceptable)
- Ability to obtain EPA wastewater certification within 6 months
