Responsibilities
- Perform heavy equipment operation (excavators, loaders, graders) with precision and safety compliance
- Execute road construction, drainage system installation, and utility maintenance tasks
- Conduct site preparation, grading, and material handling for municipal projects
- Adhere to OSHA regulations and implement erosion control measures
- Collaborate with engineering teams to interpret blueprints and project specifications
- Maintain equipment through daily inspections and preventative maintenance protocols
Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years of public works or heavy construction experience
- Valid North Carolina Class B Commercial Driver's License (CDL)
- Certification in heavy equipment operation (NCCER preferred)
- OSHA 30-hour Construction certification required
- Ability to lift 50+ pounds and work in extreme weather conditions
- Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills
- Ability to pass pre-employment physical and drug screening
