Responsibilities
- Administer and maintain the agency's local area network (LAN), wide area network (WAN), and related hardware and software infrastructure.
- Configure, deploy, and manage enterprise firewalls, routers, switches, and VPNs to ensure network security and availability.
- Troubleshoot complex network issues, perform root cause analysis, and implement timely resolutions to minimize downtime.
- Oversee network security protocols, ensuring compliance with federal standards such as NIST and FISMA.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and implement network upgrades and migration projects.
- Provide technical guidance and training to junior IT staff and end-users regarding network usage and best practices.
- Maintain detailed documentation of network configurations, changes, and troubleshooting procedures.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- At least 3 years of specialized experience in network administration, system engineering, or IT infrastructure support.
- Experience with network monitoring tools and network management systems (e.g., SolarWinds, PRTG).
- Strong knowledge of TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, and routing protocols.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Active Directory and Windows Server environments.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
