Responsibilities
- Provide First-Level Support: Respond to and resolve incoming technical support tickets via phone, email, and in-person for end-users across various state agencies.
- Troubleshooting: Diagnose and resolve hardware and software issues, including printers, operating systems, and network connectivity problems.
- User Assistance: Assist staff with software installations, account access, and password resets to ensure business continuity.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of incidents, resolutions, and hardware inventory using our ticketing system.
- Asset Management: Help track state-owned equipment, perform inventory counts, and prepare devices for deployment or disposal.
- Training: Collaborate with senior staff to learn new technologies and assist in conducting basic technology training sessions for new hires.
Qualifications
- Education: High School Diploma or GED required; Associate’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field preferred.
- Experience: No prior professional IT experience required; recent graduates with internships or technical certifications (e.g., CompTIA A+) are encouraged to apply.
- Technical Skills: Basic understanding of computer hardware, operating systems (Windows), and peripherals.
- Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical users.
- Customer Service: Demonstrated ability to provide friendly, patient, and professional customer service.
- Problem Solving: Ability to follow standard troubleshooting procedures and escalate issues when necessary.
- Availability: Willingness to work on-site in Austin, TX and adhere to state government security protocols.
