Responsibilities

  • Manage and monitor local area networks (LAN) and wide area networks (WAN) across Georgia state facilities to ensure optimal performance and uptime.
  • Implement and maintain robust cybersecurity protocols to protect sensitive government data against cyber threats and unauthorized access.
  • Configure, install, patch, and maintain servers, firewalls, routers, and associated hardware and software systems.
  • Conduct regular system backups and disaster recovery planning to minimize downtime in the event of technical failures.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex hardware, software, and network issues for internal staff and stakeholders in a timely manner.
  • Collaborate with vendors and third-party service providers to procure IT equipment and manage service contracts.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field; or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
  • Valid State of Georgia Driver’s License and a satisfactory Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) may be required for travel to various agency sites.
  • Certifications such as CompTIA Security+, CCNA, or Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator are highly preferred.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in systems administration within a government or large enterprise environment.
  • Deep knowledge of Windows Server, Active Directory, Linux, and virtualization technologies (VMware/Hyper-V).
  • Strong understanding of network protocols (TCP/IP), VPNs, and firewalls.
