Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and maintain the City's local and wide-area network infrastructure to ensure optimal performance.
- Configure and manage network security systems, including firewalls, VPNs, and intrusion detection mechanisms.
- Provide Tier 2 and Tier 3 technical support to internal staff and external stakeholders regarding hardware and software issues.
- Conduct regular system audits, performance monitoring, and preventive maintenance to minimize downtime.
- Collaborate with vendors and external contractors to procure hardware, software, and services that meet government standards.
- Develop and document standard operating procedures (SOPs) and technical documentation.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field is required.
- A minimum of 4 years of experience in systems administration, network engineering, or IT support within a government or enterprise environment.
- Professional certifications such as CompTIA Security+, Network+, CCNA, or Microsoft Certified Solutions Expert (MCSE) are strongly preferred.
- Expert knowledge of Windows Server, Active Directory, and virtualization technologies (VMware/Hyper-V).
- Strong understanding of network protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP) and cybersecurity best practices.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical users.
