Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, and maintain the City's local and wide-area network infrastructure to ensure optimal performance.
  • Configure and manage network security systems, including firewalls, VPNs, and intrusion detection mechanisms.
  • Provide Tier 2 and Tier 3 technical support to internal staff and external stakeholders regarding hardware and software issues.
  • Conduct regular system audits, performance monitoring, and preventive maintenance to minimize downtime.
  • Collaborate with vendors and external contractors to procure hardware, software, and services that meet government standards.
  • Develop and document standard operating procedures (SOPs) and technical documentation.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field is required.
  • A minimum of 4 years of experience in systems administration, network engineering, or IT support within a government or enterprise environment.
  • Professional certifications such as CompTIA Security+, Network+, CCNA, or Microsoft Certified Solutions Expert (MCSE) are strongly preferred.
  • Expert knowledge of Windows Server, Active Directory, and virtualization technologies (VMware/Hyper-V).
  • Strong understanding of network protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP) and cybersecurity best practices.
