Responsibilities
- Manage, maintain, and troubleshoot server infrastructure, including Windows Server and Linux environments.
- Oversee network security protocols, ensuring compliance with federal and state data protection standards.
- Provide advanced technical support and guidance to internal departments and staff regarding software applications and hardware peripherals.
- Monitor system performance, conduct regular backups, and implement disaster recovery procedures to ensure data integrity.
- Collaborate with external vendors to procure hardware and software solutions that align with city IT standards.
- Document IT processes and maintain accurate configuration management records.
- Participate in 24/7 on-call rotation for critical system maintenance and emergencies.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field; or equivalent professional experience.
- Valid certification such as CompTIA Security+, Network+, or Cisco CCNA preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in systems administration or network engineering within a government or enterprise environment.
- Strong knowledge of Active Directory, Microsoft Office Suite, and virtualization technologies (VMware/Hyper-V).
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical staff.
- Ability to obtain and maintain necessary government security clearances.
