Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and maintain local area networks (LANs), wide area networks (WANs), and system hardware/software.
- Monitor network performance to ensure high availability and security for all city data systems.
- Provide technical support and troubleshooting for end-users regarding hardware, software, and network connectivity issues.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local IT security regulations and data privacy standards.
- Conduct regular system audits, backups, and updates to prevent data loss and system downtime.
- Collaborate with department heads to identify technical requirements and recommend solutions.
- Manage vendor relationships and coordinate the installation of new IT equipment and infrastructure.
Qualifications
- Associate’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field (Bachelor’s degree preferred).
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in IT systems administration or a related technical role.
- Experience working within a government or public sector environment is highly desired.
- Strong knowledge of network protocols, operating systems (Windows Server, Linux), and virtualization technologies.
- Valid CompTIA Network+ or Security+ certification is a plus.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical staff.
- Ability to pass a comprehensive background check and security clearance.
