Responsibilities
- Manage and maintain the city’s local area networks (LANs) and wide area networks (WANs).
- Provide tier-2 technical support and troubleshooting for end-users across various departments.
- Install, configure, and maintain hardware and software systems, including servers and workstations.
- Monitor network performance to ensure 99.9% uptime and data security.
- Collaborate with external vendors and internal stakeholders to upgrade and modernize IT systems.
- Document technical procedures, configurations, and system changes.
- Participate in emergency response teams for IT outages.
Qualifications
- Associate’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field (Bachelor’s preferred).
- 3+ years of experience in network administration or systems engineering within a government or corporate environment.
- Strong knowledge of Windows Server, Active Directory, and network protocols (TCP/IP, DNS).
- Proficiency in scripting languages such as PowerShell or Python.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical staff.
- Must be eligible for a background check and government security clearance.
- Ability to work flexible hours during emergencies or system updates.
