Responsibilities
- Sort and Process Mail: Efficiently sort incoming mail and packages by route and priority to ensure timely delivery.
- Vehicle Operation: Safely operate a USPS vehicle (or walk a designated route) to deliver mail to residential and business addresses.
- Customer Service: Provide exceptional customer service, answer questions regarding mail delivery, and handle complaints professionally.
- Physical Stamina: Lift heavy packages, stand for long periods, and walk or drive varying distances in all weather conditions.
- Accuracy & Security: Verify addresses, manage postage, and maintain strict confidentiality regarding sensitive mail and personal information.
- Route Management: Follow established delivery routes efficiently, updating the delivery management system as needed.
Qualifications
- Citizenship: Must be a U.S. Citizen or a lawful permanent resident alien.
- Valid Driver's License: A valid state driver's license with a good driving record is required for carrier positions.
- Physical Requirements: Must be able to lift packages up to 70 lbs repeatedly and pass a mandatory drug test and background check.
- Education: High School diploma or GED equivalent preferred.
- Communication: Excellent verbal communication skills and the ability to read maps and delivery routes.
- Reliability: Punctuality and a strong work ethic are essential.
