Responsibilities
- Maintenance Operations: Perform general maintenance, repair, and cleaning of streets, sidewalks, alleys, parks, and public buildings.
- Equipment Operation: Safely operate and maintain heavy and light equipment, including trucks, backhoes, mowers, and jackhammers.
- Infrastructure Support: Assist in the repair and maintenance of storm drains, water mains, and street lighting fixtures.
- Emergency Response: Respond promptly to emergency maintenance requests and weather-related incidents, such as tree removal and debris clearing.
- Inventory Management: Monitor and maintain an inventory of tools, materials, and supplies, ensuring proper storage and organization.
- Compliance: Adhere to all safety regulations, OSHA standards, and city policies during all work activities.
- Customer Service: Interact professionally with the public, contractors, and other city staff to address inquiries and provide assistance.
Qualifications
- Education: High School Diploma or GED equivalent required.
- Experience: Minimum of one year of experience in general maintenance, construction, landscaping, or a related field.
- Licensure: Valid California Class C Driver's License required.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to perform physical labor including lifting up to 50 lbs, walking on uneven terrain, and working in various weather conditions.
- Technical Skills: Basic knowledge of hand and power tools, with the ability to operate heavy machinery preferred.
- Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to follow written and oral instructions.
- Availability: Must be available to work a flexible schedule, including weekends and overtime as needed.
