Responsibilities
- Perform manual labor tasks including groundskeeping, equipment operation, and infrastructure maintenance
- Operate heavy machinery safely (backhoes, loaders, dump trucks) with proper certification
- Assist in road repairs, drainage systems, and park facility upkeep
- Adhere to strict OSHA and municipal safety protocols at all times
- Collaborate with cross-departmental teams on community improvement projects
- Complete daily equipment inspection and maintenance reports
- Respond efficiently to emergency weather-related public works requests
Qualifications
- Valid North Carolina Commercial Driver's License (Class B) required
- Minimum 2 years' experience in public works or heavy equipment operation
- OSHA 10-hour construction certification preferred
- Ability to lift 50+ pounds and perform physically demanding tasks in varying weather conditions
- High school diploma or GED equivalent
- Pass background check and pre-employment physical
- Strong knowledge of Charlotte municipal infrastructure systems
- Valid First Aid/CPR certification
