Responsibilities
- Perform routine maintenance and repairs on city infrastructure including roads, sidewalks, and storm drains
- Operate heavy equipment safely (trucks, graders, mowers) for public works projects
- Assist in park maintenance, landscaping, and recreational facility upkeep
- Respond to weather emergencies (snow removal, storm recovery) and urgent service requests
- Follow OSHA safety protocols and maintain clean, organized work sites
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams on infrastructure improvement initiatives
- Complete accurate documentation of work performed and materials used
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED equivalent required
- Valid North Carolina Class C driver's license with clean record
- 1+ years of experience in construction, landscaping, or public works preferred
- OSHA 10-hour certification or willingness to obtain within 90 days
- Ability to lift 50+ pounds and perform physically demanding tasks in all weather conditions
- Basic mechanical knowledge for equipment troubleshooting
- Strong commitment to public service and community safety
- Pass pre-employment background check and physical examination
