Responsibilities
- Perform routine maintenance and repairs on city infrastructure including roads, sidewalks, drainage systems, and public facilities
- Operate heavy equipment (dump trucks, loaders, graders) safely and efficiently per OSHA standards
- Respond to emergency service calls during weather events and public safety incidents
- Inspect public works sites for hazards, compliance, and maintenance needs using digital reporting tools
- Coordinate with contractors and other city departments for seamless project execution
- Maintain accurate equipment logs, inventory records, and work documentation
- Participate in community outreach initiatives explaining infrastructure projects to residents
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent; vocational certification in maintenance/construction preferred
- Valid Texas Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with clean driving record
- Minimum 2 years experience in public works, construction, or heavy equipment operation
- OSHA 10/30 certification or willingness to obtain within 90 days
- Ability to lift 50+ lbs and work in extreme weather conditions
- Proficient with digital tools for reporting (GIS, CMMS systems)
