Responsibilities
- Perform routine maintenance and repairs on city facilities, parks, and infrastructure including plumbing, electrical systems, and structural elements
- Operate and maintain municipal equipment such as trucks, mowers, and hand/power tools with strict adherence to safety protocols
- Conduct regular inspections of public spaces to identify hazards and maintenance needs
- Collaborate with cross-departmental teams on capital improvement projects and emergency response initiatives
- Document work activities using digital systems and prepare detailed maintenance reports
- Implement sustainable practices in daily operations to reduce environmental impact
- Provide excellent customer service to citizens while addressing maintenance concerns
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent with minimum 2 years of maintenance or construction experience
- Valid Tennessee driver's license with clean driving record
- Certification in OSHA safety standards or willingness to obtain within 90 days
- Proficiency with basic hand/power tools and diagnostic equipment
- Ability to lift 50+ pounds and perform physically demanding tasks in various weather conditions
- Strong problem-solving skills with attention to detail and safety compliance
- Basic computer literacy for reporting systems and communication tools
- Must pass background check and drug screening as condition of employment
