Responsibilities
- Perform routine maintenance on public facilities, parks, and transportation infrastructure
- Operate and maintain specialized equipment including snow plows, street sweepers, and hand tools
- Respond to emergency maintenance requests and service disruptions
- Conduct safety inspections and report hazards to supervisors
- Collaborate with cross-departmental teams for coordinated infrastructure projects
- Document maintenance activities using digital reporting systems
- Participate in community outreach and public education initiatives
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required; vocational certification preferred
- Minimum 2 years experience in facility maintenance or public works
- Valid Illinois Commercial Driver's License (CDL Class B)
- OSHA 10-hour construction certification or ability to obtain within 90 days
- Strong knowledge of municipal infrastructure systems and safety protocols
- Ability to work in variable weather conditions and physically demanding environments
- Excellent communication skills and customer service orientation
- Basic proficiency with digital maintenance reporting platforms
