We are currently looking for a detail-oriented Municipal Maintenance Technician to perform a variety of essential maintenance tasks to ensure the safety and functionality of Charlotte's public infrastructure.
Responsibilities
- Perform general maintenance and repair of streets, sidewalks, alleys, and drainage systems.
- Operate heavy machinery and light equipment, including dump trucks, street sweepers, and jackhammers.
- Clear snow and ice from city streets and parking lots during winter weather events.
- Assist in the installation, repair, and inspection of traffic signs, signals, and pavement markings.
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment by adhering to all safety protocols and OSHA regulations.
- Respond to emergency service requests and public work orders promptly.
- Inspect infrastructure for damage and report findings to the supervisor.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent required.
- Valid North Carolina Driver's License (Class C) required; Commercial Driver's License (CDL) is a plus.
- Previous experience in public works, construction, landscaping, or general maintenance preferred.
- Ability to perform physical labor, including lifting up to 50 lbs, bending, and standing for extended periods.
- Basic knowledge of hand and power tools is highly desirable.
- Ability to work in various weather conditions, including extreme heat and cold.
- Strong commitment to public safety and customer service.
