Responsibilities
- Infrastructure Preservation: Perform essential maintenance on streets, sidewalks, traffic signals, and public lighting systems to ensure optimal functionality.
- Utility Systems Management: Diagnose and repair issues within the water, sewer, and storm drain networks to maintain public health and safety.
- Heavy Machinery Operation: Safely operate and maintain heavy equipment, including backhoes, rollers, and dump trucks, adhering to strict safety guidelines.
- Emergency Response: Respond to weather-related emergencies, including flood control and snow removal, ensuring minimal disruption to city operations.
- Compliance & Safety: Enforce OSHA safety standards and conduct regular inspections of work sites to prevent accidents and ensure regulatory compliance.
Qualifications
- Education: High School Diploma or GED required; Technical certification or Associate degree in a related field is a plus.
- License: Valid Nevada Class C Driver's License with a clean driving record.
- Experience: Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in public works, construction, or general maintenance.
- Physical Capability: Ability to lift 50+ lbs, work in extreme heat (common in NV summers), and perform manual labor for extended shifts.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency with basic hand and power tools, as well as familiarity with hydraulic and mechanical systems.
- Background Check: Must pass a background investigation, drug screening, and physical agility test.
