Responsibilities
- Perform preventative and corrective maintenance on city infrastructure, including roads, sidewalks, and drainage systems.
- Respond to emergency repair requests and work orders in a timely and professional manner.
- Operate and maintain heavy machinery and hand tools, such as jackhammers, backhoes, and power saws.
- Inspect public facilities and parks to ensure safety compliance and aesthetic standards are met.
- Collaborate with city engineers and planners to identify infrastructure needs and solutions.
- Adhere to all safety protocols and OSHA regulations while on job sites.
- Document work completed and report material shortages or equipment malfunctions.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED equivalent required.
- Valid Michigan Driver's License with a clean driving record.
- Previous experience in public works, construction, or general maintenance is preferred.
- Ability to lift and carry heavy loads (up to 50 lbs) and stand for extended periods.
- Basic knowledge of hydraulic, electrical, and mechanical systems.
- Willingness to work in various weather conditions, including extreme heat and cold.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
