Responsibilities
- Perform routine maintenance and repair of public infrastructure, including streets, sidewalks, and drainage systems.
- Operate heavy machinery such as dump trucks, loaders, and backhoes in adherence to all safety protocols and regulations.
- Assist in snow and ice removal operations during inclement weather to ensure public safety and accessibility.
- Maintain public parks, green spaces, and right-of-ways to ensure they are clean and aesthetically pleasing.
- Conduct regular inspections of public facilities and equipment to identify maintenance needs.
- Interact with the public and other City departments in a professional and courteous manner.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED equivalent is required; vocational or technical training in a related field is a plus.
- A valid Virginia Class B Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) is highly preferred.
- Ability to perform physical labor in various weather conditions, including heat, cold, and wet environments.
- Strong commitment to workplace safety and adherence to all municipal policies and procedures.
- Basic mechanical aptitude and the ability to troubleshoot minor equipment issues.
