Responsibilities
- Perform routine maintenance and repairs on city facilities, parks, and public infrastructure
- Operate heavy machinery including dump trucks, backhoes, and street sweepers
- Conduct safety inspections and implement corrective actions for hazards
- Respond to emergency weather-related public service requests
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams for large-scale municipal projects
- Maintain accurate maintenance logs and equipment usage records
- Ensure compliance with OSHA and municipal safety regulations
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required; technical certification preferred
- Minimum 2 years' experience in public works or facility maintenance
- Valid Tennessee Class B Commercial Driver's License (CDL)
- OSHA 10-hour construction certification or ability to obtain within 90 days
- Proficiency with hand/power tools and diagnostic equipment
- Ability to lift 50+ pounds and work in extreme weather conditions
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Pass background check and pre-employment physical examination
