Responsibilities
- Perform preventative maintenance and repairs on city facilities, parks, and transportation infrastructure
- Operate heavy machinery including backhoes, forklifts, and street sweepers safely and efficiently
- Conduct daily inspections of public works equipment and report maintenance needs
- Collaborate with cross-departmental teams on emergency response projects
- Ensure strict adherence to OSHA safety protocols and municipal compliance standards
- Document maintenance activities and submit detailed progress reports
- Participate in after-hours and weekend emergency response rotations as needed
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED equivalent required
- Minimum 3 years of experience in municipal maintenance or heavy equipment operation
- Valid Georgia Commercial Driver's License (CDL) Class B with airbrakes endorsement
- Certification in OSHA 10-hour construction safety preferred
- Ability to lift 50+ pounds and perform physically demanding tasks in all weather conditions
- Strong problem-solving skills with attention to detail
- Must pass pre-employment physical and background check
- Experience with GIS mapping systems a plus
