Job Summary
The Municipal Maintenance Worker is responsible for performing a variety of manual and semi-skilled tasks related to the maintenance, repair, and cleaning of public infrastructure. This role requires physical stamina, attention to detail, and a commitment to public service.
Responsibilities
- Perform routine maintenance, repair, and cleaning of streets, sidewalks, alleys, and public right-of-way.
- Operate heavy equipment such as street sweepers, pothole patchers, and dump trucks.
- Assist in traffic control, flagging, and barricading for construction and maintenance zones.
- Maintain and repair traffic signals, streetlights, and signage.
- Remove graffiti, litter, and debris from public areas.
- Collaborate with other city departments and contractors to ensure project completion.
- Ensure compliance with all safety regulations and environmental guidelines.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent required.
- Valid California Class C Driverβs License required.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 75 pounds repeatedly.
- Basic knowledge of tools and equipment used in public works.
- Physical ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
- Must pass a background check and drug screening.
- Fluency in Spanish is highly preferred.
