Responsibilities
- Conduct routine inspections of municipal roads, bridges, and drainage systems to identify maintenance needs and safety hazards.
- Operate and maintain heavy machinery and construction equipment, including excavators, cranes, and paving machines.
- Perform preventative maintenance on city infrastructure, including traffic signals, streetlights, and utility lines.
- Assist in emergency response situations, such as storm damage repair and snow removal operations.
- Document work orders, log maintenance activities, and prepare detailed reports for engineering teams.
- Collaborate with other city departments and contractors to ensure seamless project execution.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED is required; technical certification in civil engineering or public works is preferred.
- A valid Nebraska Class A or B Commercial Driver's License (CDL) is required.
- Experience with heavy equipment operation and road maintenance is highly desirable.
- Ability to work in various weather conditions and physically demanding environments.
- Strong knowledge of OSHA safety regulations and site safety protocols.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
