Responsibilities
- Operate heavy-duty sanitation trucks and refuse collection vehicles safely and efficiently.
- Collect and dispose of residential and commercial waste, recyclables, and yard trimmings according to city schedules.
- Perform routine maintenance checks on collection vehicles and report mechanical issues immediately.
- Ensure the proper loading and securing of refuse to prevent spills and ensure safety on public roads.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area, including the truck cab and collection site.
- Adhere to all traffic laws, safety regulations, and city policies during daily operations.
- Interact professionally with the public and fellow employees to maintain a positive work environment.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
- Valid Class B Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with a clean driving record is preferred.
- Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check.
- Physical ability to lift heavy objects, stand for extended periods, and work in various weather conditions.
- Basic mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn equipment operation.
- Willingness to work rotating shifts, weekends, and holidays as required.
