Responsibilities
- Operate heavy-duty refuse trucks and sweepers to collect and transport waste and recyclables efficiently.
- Perform manual labor including lifting, carrying, and pushing heavy loads up to 50 lbs on a regular basis.
- Inspect streets, sidewalks, and alleys for debris, potholes, and maintenance issues.
- Follow all traffic laws and safety protocols to ensure safe operation of vehicles and equipment.
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment, adhering to all environmental and safety regulations.
- Communicate effectively with the public and other city employees to resolve service issues.
- Perform routine maintenance checks on equipment and report malfunctions immediately.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent required.
- Valid California Class B Driverβs License with a clean driving record is highly preferred.
- Ability to pass a background check, drug screen, and medical examination.
- Physically capable of performing strenuous manual labor in all weather conditions.
- Basic knowledge of safety procedures and the ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
- Experience with heavy machinery or construction equipment is a plus but not required.
