Responsibilities
- Operate Collection Vehicles: Safely and efficiently operate heavy refuse collection trucks and side-loader vehicles to collect residential and commercial waste.
- Route Management: Adhere to assigned routes and schedules to ensure timely collection and optimal service delivery.
- Manual Labor: Perform manual labor tasks, including lifting heavy loads, sorting recyclables, and loading trash onto collection vehicles.
- Maintenance: Perform basic preventative maintenance checks on collection vehicles and report any mechanical issues to the supervisor immediately.
- Safety Compliance: Strictly adhere to all traffic laws, safety protocols, and City of Las Vegas policies to ensure a safe working environment.
- Customer Interaction: Interact professionally with residents and business owners, answering questions and resolving service inquiries courteously.
Qualifications
- Education: High School Diploma or GED equivalent required.
- License: Valid Class C Driver’s License with a clean driving record is mandatory.
- Experience: Previous experience in sanitation, waste management, or general labor is preferred but not always required; on-the-job training will be provided.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to lift and carry objects weighing up to 50 lbs repeatedly throughout the shift. Candidates must be able to perform physical labor in various weather conditions.
- Skills: Basic mechanical knowledge and the ability to operate heavy machinery are a plus.
- Background: Successful completion of a background check and drug screen is required.
