Responsibilities
- Collect and dispose of residential and commercial refuse, trash, and recyclables along designated routes.
- Operate heavy-duty sanitation vehicles, including rear loaders and front-end loaders, safely and efficiently.
- Perform routine maintenance and minor repairs on sanitation equipment and trucks.
- Assist with snow and ice removal operations during inclement weather events.
- Ensure strict compliance with all traffic laws, safety regulations, and city policies.
- Communicate effectively with the public and other city departments.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent required.
- Valid Indiana Driver’s License (Class D) with a clean driving record.
- Ability to lift and carry objects weighing up to 50 lbs repeatedly.
- Physical stamina to work outdoors in all weather conditions (extreme heat, cold, rain, snow).
- Must pass a background check and drug screen.
- Basic mechanical aptitude is a plus.
